Refreshed Product Image Strategy for mcmaster.com

Over two years in the Publishing department, I led the research and implementation of Cinema 4D, Redshift, and Substance Designer in McMaster-Carr’s image rendering pipeline. This included the render material creation process, photo studio build in the Cinema 4D environment, image rendering, and quality review.

Industrial Information Drawer

Now officially filed as a design patent, the Industrial Information drawer on mcmaster.com explains product specifications to customers that interact with the “ii” icon in the left pane. I contributed to the drawer design and UX features. Below, I crafted explanations for the various hardness ratings on mcmaster.com.

I developed the images and copy to explain the different hardness ratings specified on mcmaster.com. This was meant to help customers understand these general hardness ratings in more concrete terms. Ultimately, we moved away from using images and copy for hardness ratings since different customers have different experiences with the hardness of a given rubber glove, tennis ball, or pencil eraser.
